Boca Raton’s Fourth of July traditions run deep. What began in 1958 as a modest fireworks display at Memorial Park has grown into a full‑day celebration that brings the entire community together. Today, Boca blends recreation, family-friendly activities and outdoor festivities into an Independence Day that feels distinctly its own.
The day begins early, with the Firecracker 5K Run/Walk on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. Sports enthusiasts keep the friendly competition going with racquet play at local parks, a fitting expression of the area’s long‑standing love of tennis (and now pickleball).
In the afternoon, families head to Sugar Sand Park for the Fabulous Fourth Block Party, where free activities, live entertainment and food trucks draw a lively crowd. Arts and crafts, games, rides and music add to the fun.
As the sun sets, Countess de Hoernle Park becomes the center of the celebration. Blankets and lawn chairs dot the grass, and live music sets the stage for a 20-minute fireworks display that lights up the sky and brings everyone together in star-spangled celebration.
