On Sept. 25, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden opens after dark for Moonlight Garden, allowing visitors a rare opportunity to wander its winding pathways beneath the harvest moon and experience the property after sunset.
The setting is part of the appeal. Spanning 83 acres in Miami, Fairchild is known for its extensive collection of tropical plants, which takes on a different character once the sun goes down.
The after-hours experience also turns attention skyward. Guests can view the night sky through telescopes stationed on the Bailey Palm Glade, while Fairchild’s “Growing Beyond Earth” exhibit, developed in partnership with NASA, opens for nighttime exploration.
At the Lower Cycad Vista Lounge, guests can order botanical-inspired cocktails, mocktails and food from the Star Bar while unwinding to ambient music.
For those seeking a quieter experience, the Wellness Terrace offers guided meditation sessions, activities and mandala flower art. Guests can also upgrade their general admission ticket with the Garden Pairing Experience, a three-course culinary tasting at the Glasshouse Cafe patio.
A Moon Painting Experience offers another optional upgrade, with a guided session inspired by the garden after dark.
