Wood-fired ovens, backyard smokers and open-hearth restaurants have surged in popularity in recent years, and this fall, food lovers get a chance to learn from one of the country’s best-known advocates of live-fire cooking when Ben Ford, chef and son of actor Harrison Ford, visits The Boca Raton on Oct. 19 for Cuisine U’s Live Fire Canon.
The event offers guests an insider’s look at the role fire plays in developing flavor and texture. Attendees will gain insight into wood selection, fire management and cooking techniques, along with methods for developing bold flavors through heat and smoke. The program is designed for chefs, home cooks and backyard grillers looking to elevate their culinary skills beyond burgers and steaks.
Ford, known for rustic cooking methods that highlight smoke and simple ingredients, has built a loyal following through his passion for technique and craftsmanship. Guests can expect practical instruction, plenty of inspiration and a chance to engage directly with a chef who has mastered the flame.
The full day of instruction runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes meals. For those wanting additional experience, a bonus session on Sunday, Oct. 18, delves into preparations for the following day’s workshop.
