Demetri Martin — known for his dry delivery, quick-fire jokes, musical stand-up and clever visual gags — returns to South Florida to delight fans with his witty, unconventional humor.
A former staff writer for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and a regular on “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart, Martin has earned international acclaim through sold-out tours, bestselling books and multiple Netflix specials.
Martin is also an accomplished filmmaker. His debut feature, “Dean,” which he wrote, directed and starred in, won the Founder’s Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival. He also expanded his creative footprint into the visual arts with his first solo exhibition, “Acute Angles” — a self-aware nod to the shape of his nose — at Los Angeles’ Laconic Gallery, featuring 12 paintings and around 30 drawings.
Martin’s current show, “The Quick Draw Tour,” blends stand-up, sketches and original illustrations, including him drawing in real time as jokes unfold, rather than relying on pre-prepared visuals. Get ready for puns, one-liners, awkward punchlines and observational humor during a night of smart, eccentric comedy only he can deliver.
“The Quick Draw Tour” takes the stage at Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker on April 10 at 7:30 p.m.
