A new cinematic adventure is unfolding in Boca Raton — one that invites audiences to step off the beaten path and into the rich landscape of independent film.
The city’s brand-new Indie Film Series is more than a lineup of screenings; it’s a celebration of bold storytelling in all its forms. From gripping dramas and eye-opening documentaries to laugh-out-loud comedies and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, each selection reflects the creative freedom that defines independent cinema.
The final film in the three-part series, which began in October, will be shown Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Willow Theater at Sugar Sand Park. “Daaaaaalí!” is a wildly inventive comedy from director Quentin Dupieux — a French electronic musician, record producer, songwriter and filmmaker known for using absurdity as a narrative tool.
The film follows journalist Judith Rochant as she attempts to interview the legendary artist Salvador Dalí, only to be swept up in a dreamlike spiral of ego, artistry and surrealism. Five actors portray Dalí, each capturing a facet of the painter’s flamboyant genius.
Whether you’re a seasoned cinephile or simply curious about films that break the mold, this is your invitation to explore, laugh and be inspired. Moviegoers will experience Dupieux’s singular imagination and leave seeing the world a little differently.
