Few singers compare to Gladys Knight, whose remarkable command of soul, R&B, gospel, blues, funk and pop has captivated audiences throughout her illustrious six-decade career. With more than 38 albums and seven Grammy awards to her name, the legendary “Empress of Soul” continues to tour the country and will perform live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on March 6.
Praised as one of the greatest vocalists of all time, Knight’s rise to fame began in the 1960s as the powerhouse lead singer of Gladys Knight & The Pips, the music group celebrated for timeless hits like “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “If I Were Your Woman,” “Neither One Of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)” and, perhaps most notably, “Midnight Train to Georgia” — the soulful anthem that topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1973 and remains a classic to this day.
Following the group’s success during the Motown era, Knight embarked on an equally remarkable solo career, further showcasing her powerful voice and magnetic stage presence. Songs like “Love Overboard,” “I Feel A Song” and “You’re the Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me” have become synonymous with her legacy.
Offstage, Knight’s impact extends to her humanitarian work. Through The Gladys Knight Foundation, she champions education, health and social justice. Recently, she was honored with the 2024 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2023 received the National Medal of Arts, further cementing her place not only as a musical icon but as a cultural force.
