Jackie Diaz
Environmental And Real Property Consulting
After college at Hawaii Pacific University, Jackie Diaz attended a lecture while serving with AmeriCorps where the speaker was a driller who excavated contaminated sites. “When he was speaking, I realized that was what I needed to be doing.” She went up to him after the lecture and asked him what companies he works with. He raved to her about AEI Consultants. “I applied and I got the job,” says Diaz, who has been a Project Scientist with the firm since 2012. A career in the STEM field was born.
AEI Consultants is an environmental and real property consulting firm. They specialize in environmental and building assessments, land surveys, site investigations, remediation, sustainability consulting and commercial valuation. Diaz visits commercial properties and conducts sampling of various mediums to determine if they’re contaminated. Thanks to her ability to understand three languages — English, Spanish and French — Diaz can visit properties around the world including South Florida, Montreal, Grand Caymans and Puerto Rico.
AEI has grown over the years, but still maintains a boutique feel. Clients won’t feel like they’re just a number. “We’re a boutique firm with international clients, but we’re tight knit and don’t have a corporate feel,” she says. “Our principles are to work for the good. We care about what we do and believe in it.” That means clients always come first. “We’re always in the clients’ corner no matter what.”
Diaz loves what she does. “It’s never a dull moment,” she says. “It’s always exciting. No day is the same.” She enjoys meeting people and traveling. “I learn something at every job site and about myself. I’m able to combine my passion for the environment with my talents in business.”
A first generation American, Diaz was raised by two gritty and loving parents in Boca Raton, graduating from Saint Paul II Academy. (She was named after late First Lady Jackie Onassis Kennedy and has political aspirations of her own.) She was the first person in her family to graduate college with an academic and athletic scholarship for soccer.
“I’m passionate about nature and being a responsible steward of the land, specifically the top soil,” says Diaz, who raises chickens that lay green eggs and rides horses on her family farm in Colombia. “My job here is to be a guardian of the earth.” Diaz, a brown belt under Elite Force Martial Arts, is also a state and a national jiu jitsu champion. “I owe a great part of my tenacity for life and business to my love for martial arts and support from my tribe of family and friends.”
