In 2018, Stacie Weisman and her colleagues at her marketing company discussed how to make the most of rosé wine. “A lot of people were coming to us with rosé wine and they wanted all these rosés poured by the glass in all these restaurants, but they had no other plan,” she says. “Once you open a bottle of wine, there isn’t anything else you can do with it. You’re either gonna drink it or waste it.”
Their solution? A rosé slushy. “Wine cocktails really haven’t been a big thing, but slushies are a big thing,” Weisman says. “So we went off on this whole mission.”
That mission turned into Bloomers Frosé & More, a non-alcoholic fruit-flavored mixer you can use with wine or spirits. Bringing it to the masses, though, involved a helping hand from Ron Barcena and Ken Rosenberg of RNDC (Republic National Distributing Company). “We’re very lucky because they basically took a product nobody knew what it was,” Weisman says.
Today, many people know about Bloomers Frosé & More, as well as the company’s other products, currently at 43. These include a CBD ready-to-drink line, Bloomers Bushwacker and Ben’s Badazz Bloody, a Bloody Mary mix.
“That brand is a little more personal than any of the others,” Weisman says. “On the label is a picture of Ben. Ben was my business partner, my nephew, basically my little brother. He was my best friend, my person, my everything. And six weeks after the first order of frosé came off the truck, he succumbed to mental health issues.”
To honor Ben, a portion of the proceeds from Ben’s Badazz Bloody goes to charities that address mental health issues. In addition, as a breast cancer survivor, Weisman also donates a portion of the proceeds from Bloomers Frozen Drinks’ other products to a breast cancer charity.
Giving to charity is important to Weisman, but she still is humbled when people reach out saying how much they like Bloomers Frozen Drinks.
“That’s probably my favorite part, that some random person will walk up and go, ‘I’ve been buying your product for five years,’” she says. “And I’m just like blown away.”
