Chelsea Lane knows that the right wallpaper can add a beautiful finishing touch to a home.
“Wallpaper can add texture as well as color to a bedroom, closet, kitchen, bath or throughout the residence,” she says. “This is not your grandmother’s wallpaper.”
As president of Chelsea Lane & Co. in West Palm Beach, Lane leads a well-trained staff of professionals who can guide clients through the largest wallpaper library in Palm Beach County. Her store is also home to an eclectic collection of home decor, clothing and jewelry.
“We work with interior designers, architects, contractors and developers as well as homeowners,” she says. “Our goal is to provide exceptional service throughout the process.”
Lane began learning about wallpaper at an early age.
“My mother, Wendy Brooks, was installing wallpaper before I was even born,” she says. “Today, we still work closely together. Her company, Wallpaper by Wendy, handles installations, and we handle the sales. We make a great team!”
Growing up in South Florida, Lane earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing at Florida Atlantic University and started her own business in 2010 while in college. She later earned an interior design degree at Palm Beach State College. She is also involved with charitable organizations and has donated her services to Kids Sanctuary, a home for abused and abandoned children.
Reflecting on trends in today’s residential market, Lane says textured wallpapers are best-sellers.
“A majority of our sales are for grasscloth and mother of pearl,” she says. “Vinyls have come a long way and are often used in bathrooms and kitchens.”
Neutral colors are always popular, although bold dark wallpaper is trendy now.
