Head Of School Helena Levine’s Mission Is To Educate And Inspire The Next Generation Of Leaders
Celebrating 40 years, Donna Klein Jewish Academy (DKJA) is an exceptional Jewish community day school comprising a close-knit community of families representing diverse denominations and countries sharing a commitment to Jewish identity, heritage and values.
At DKJA, students in kindergarten through 12th grade experience excellence through Jewish living, learning and academic achievement while cultivating their individual talents. The school is located within the vibrant 100-acre campus of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, the largest Jewish campus in the country.
Helena Levine, head of school, marks her 15th year at DKJA. With a master’s degree in clinical social work, she has spent the majority of her career in educational institutions, impacting thousands of children’s lives.
Her passion for education and commitment to the Jewish people were passed down from her parents and grandparents, whose sacrifices inspire her every day. Levine’s love of education was recently reinvigorated at the Harvard Graduate School of Education Principals Center for Leadership Program.
“At DKJA, we are raising the leaders of tomorrow. As a Leader In Me school, our students learn leadership skills through Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. In addition, our STEAM-powered curriculum provides high school honors, AP and advanced college-level courses, including specialized pre-med, pre-law and pre-engineering programs made possible by our affiliations with Florida Atlantic University and West Boca Medical Center,” Levine says.
“Our high academic standards have been proven by our students’ acceptances to top universities, including Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Harvard, MIT, Northwestern, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, The University of Chicago, Vanderbilt and Washington University.”
Levine’s strong commitment to Jewish day school education is supported by research conducted by PEJE showing that students who attend Jewish day schools are better prepared for college and beyond compared to their counterparts.
“I am proud to witness our students’ and graduates’ successes,” she says. “I wake up each day knowing I am doing sacred work.”
