Marc Wigder
Multi-Sector Real Estate Portfolio
Marc Wigder is an innovator in the private sector and public service, and enjoys every minute of it. The real estate attorney owns Greenhouse Property Company, is an adjunct professor teaching business law at Florida Atlantic University and, since 2023, has served on Boca Raton’s City Council. “I use my real estate, legal and investing experience to help the city,” says Wigder, who is fueled by the Council’s accomplishments.
The Council extended the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) that was set to expire in 2025, for another 17 years. Says Wigder, “Now millions of dollars in investments to the city’s infrastructure downtown can be made without significant taxpayer expense. This includes the area of our government campus which is a critical project.”
The Council also voted to rebuild the police station in a more centrally located place in the city, which will lead to reduced time to calls. It also invests in state-of-the-art technology to help the great police force provide award-winning public safety services.
The Dixie Manor Apartments, will redevelop and double the amount of lower income housing, have a park and playground. The Council passed its first affordable housing ordinance which requires at least 10% of new units be offered at affordable rates and could be great for essential workers.
One example is the approved redevelopment of the Office Depot campus, currently three office buildings on Military Trail. One building will be eliminated and replaced with apartments (some with reduced rents) and a nice mix of retail and restaurants, creating a small mixed-use district and a reduction in traffic and parking.
He also talks about Marc 2.0. after cancer in 2022. “With the miracle of a second chance, it was time to give back.” Wigder pursued public service.
He’s adjusting to walking in both worlds. “In my company, when I see a problem, I talk to my property manager and the next day it’s fixed. In the city, it takes a village to solve the problem. I’m grateful to be able to help. There’s lots to do. It’s a great time to be in Boca Raton.”
