“We don’t believe buying jewelry should be an intimidating experience,” says Devorah Feder, who, with her husband Marc, opened their newest store inside the Boardwalk at 18th Street in 2018.
Marc has been in the family jewelry business since he can remember. His father started Jay Feder Jewelers in Colorado in 1979. The couple took over that location about 15 years ago.
The 4,200-square-foot showroom serves as a home away from home for both the couple as well as their customers. The store is elegant, yet homey. Their children’s artwork hangs on the walls, while the furniture invites you to sit and stay for a while.
“When you come into our store, we want you to feel like you are coming into our home,” says Devorah.
The couple pride themselves on hand selecting the most unique pieces for their customers, as well as on creating custom ones to suit any occasion.
“We make a conscious effort to bring in designers and pieces that no one has seen before. I love that, I don’t want people to see it in every other store,” Devorah says.
The custom pieces are made at their New York location. Marc is the gem expert, having earned all of his G.I.A. certifications, including Graduate Gemologist, Graduate Diamonds Program and Graduate Colored Stones Program. Devorah is the creative one who designs the pieces.
“We shine the most by taking old heirloom pieces and turning them into more modern ones,” says Marc.
The Feders love engaging with their customers and are big believers in supporting their community. They have been known to host private engagement parties as well as the celebration of family milestones. They place a big emphasis on family.
