As thousands of families choose to make South Florida their home, the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is rising to meet this moment of extraordinary growth with vision, purpose and connection.
In a world that can feel increasingly complex for Jewish communities, JFSPBC offers clarity and strength — linking newcomers to vibrant Jewish life and deepening bonds with those who have long called Boca home.
“We are not just responding to the moment — we’re shaping the future of Jewish life in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and beyond,” says Igor Alterman, who became president and CEO in February.
Under Alterman’s leadership, the Federation is honoring its powerful legacy while stepping confidently into a new chapter. With thousands of Jewish families moving to the area, the Federation is becoming a vital gateway by connecting newcomers to a vibrant Jewish life and deepening the bonds with those who helped build this remarkable community.
The largest in North America, the 100-acre Federation campus is the heart of that ecosystem, home to agencies that care for every stage of life. From early childhood to senior living, from mental health support to disability inclusion, from safety-net services to cultural enrichment, no facet of Jewish life goes untouched. And at the center of it all is the Federation.
In an era of rising antisemitism and global uncertainty, the Federation also serves as a strong, unwavering voice for Jewish values. Through advocacy and strategic support for Israel, it ensures Jewish life remains proud, protected and visible.
With nearly 80 partner organizations locally and abroad, the Federation’s reach is vast — often quietly present in moments that matter most. It offers community security, scholarships, summer camps and critical support for families in need.
“When you support the Federation,” Alterman says, “you strengthen the entire community.”
Alterman brings deep experience in Jewish communal leadership, having previously served as president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, with earlier roles in higher education. He holds dual master’s degrees in nonprofit management and religious education. He sees his new role as both a professional milestone and a personal calling.
“Right now is a moment for innovation, for renewed purpose and for bold philanthropic engagement,” he says. “I’m here to help build what’s next.”
