Civil Trial Attorney Patrick Lawlor Helps Clients Obtain Justice
Patrick Lawlor, president and founder of Lawlor & Associates, is no stranger to the courtroom. He has tried more than 200 cases in his 27 years of practice.
Lawlor has been a board certified civil trial attorney in Florida for the past 20 years. Only 1 percent of practicing attorneys in Florida are board certified in civil trial law.
His career spans a broad range of litigation that includes personal injury, negligent security, product liability, wrongful death claims, premises liability, cruise line, crew members, boating injuries, criminal misdemeanor and felony cases. He has secured several settlements in excess of $1 million.
“My personality is that I’m a competitor. I love the competition of trial to prove my side of the case,” Lawlor says. “I have even tried two cases at the same time in Broward County and won them both. I was bouncing back and forth from courtroom to courtroom.”
One of his most rewarding cases in personal injury was representing a commercial truck driver who blew a tire on the road and was injured. Lawlor dug into the case, discovering that the driver’s employer had illegally replaced the tires on the truck with used, faulty tires.
“This case almost got thrown out, but I found out about the tires through hard work and investigation and got the driver a high settlement, “Lawlor says. “People know that I’ll go to trial and I’m always prepared to give my all to my clients.”
In his civil law work, Lawlor represents several victims in the Parkland shooting and has taken on cases for victims of police misconduct.
He has also spent more than 20 years in sports business law and recently got into sports consulting. He has represented Tyrann Mathieu of the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Peterson, a first-round draft pick, in contract negotiations.
For the past five years, Lawlor has been an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University teaching Sports Law for the MBA Sport Management program. He is very active in the Boca Raton community, serving as chairman of the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame and supporting many other organizations.
