Seth Kaplan and Jennifer Einersen
Wills - Trust and Estate Law
In May 2021, the New York-based law firm Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP expanded into South Florida, opening a Boca Raton office. The 52-year-old firm, founded by Chairman Lew Meltzer, launched the office with local trust and estates attorneys Seth Kaplan, managing partner of the Boca Raton and Miami offices and Jennifer Einersen, both of whom are members of the New York and Florida Bars.
Together with the firm’s more than 25 private wealth professionals, Kaplan and Einersen bring an abundance of experience in private wealth planning, probate, estate planning and wealth protection planning. Their experience dovetails with the corporate, real estate and business law for which Meltzer Lippe is well known. Ten Meltzer Lippe attorneys are admitted to The Florida Bar.
“Among the many motivations for us to join Meltzer Lippe was our New York connections and resources available in New York,” says Kaplan, whose clients include young entrepreneurs, private equity fund managers, high-net worth investors and retirees.
The Florida Trust and Estates Practice works closely with Meltzer Lippe’s New York office and in particular its corporate department, says New York native Einersen. “When working with private wealth clients, there will inevitably be business interests involved. We can handle the corporate work in addition to the estate planning.
Expanding into Florida made perfect sense.
“Long Island and Boca Raton are culturally similar. That Meltzer Lippe has been so successful in the New York metropolitan area strongly suggests that this is a natural extension,” says Kaplan. “We appreciate the flexibility the firm gives us and look forward to expanding its South Florida presence.”
David Heymann, Meltzer Lippe’s managing partner, stated, “Our expansion to South Florida started with trusts and estates, given the firm’s national reputation in that practice area and the regional reputation that Seth and Jennifer have cultivated. Our intention is to expand our South Florida presence to our other practice areas including labor and employment, real estate and corporate in the near future. Having a South Florida office enables us to provide continuity to our clients who have moved to Florida full-time or who have second residences in South Florida.”
