Dr. Jared Baum, DVM, DACVS-SA
Veterinary Surgeon
South Florida welcomes its first truly dedicated small animal surgical center. Owned and operated by Dr. Jared Baum, DVM, DACVS-SA, a Cornell-trained board-certified veterinary surgeon, PEAK Veterinary Surgery opens its doors February 2026. Dr. Baum, a native of Boca Raton, returned to the area following his extensive education and training at Columbia University, the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Guelph Ontario Veterinary College and finally Cornell University where he gained an additional three years of surgical training.
Pet owners deserve the best care possible for their dogs and cats, and that’s exactly what Dr. Jared Baum offers at PEAK Veterinary Surgery. A brand-new cutting-edge facility, PEAK focuses on just one thing – expert soft tissue and orthopedic surgery for dogs and cats. In addition to creating expansive state-of-the-art operating rooms, Dr. Baum has fitted PEAK with imaging such as ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and a 64-slice CT scanner. Located on site, these advanced imaging tools can be promptly and seamlessly integrated into the evaluation and surgical workflow.
“The main driving force behind starting our practice is to provide the level of care we feel people and their pets deserve,” Baum says. “We want to offer something unique – a boutique specialized surgical experience with thoughtful consultations and personalized care that extends beyond the point of surgery. By taking the time to talk through the care plan, we will ensure that all possible options are considered, even non-surgical ones. Clients should always be comfortable with the decisions they make for their pets.”
Delivering compassionate, transparent and technically superb surgical care has long been a motivating factor for Dr. Baum. In tribute to his commitment and compassion, while at Cornell University Dr. Baum was honored by his clients, Chris and Mariesa Hughes, who created the Dr. Baum Award for Compassion, an annual award with an associated stipend given to the most compassionate individual at Cornell University Hospital for Animals.
Dr. Jared Baum is thrilled to be back in his hometown. He looks forward to serving us at PEAK Veterinary Surgery and providing the kind of veterinary surgical care we all hope to receive.
