Jose L. Martinez, M.D. Helps Patients Breathe Easier
For the last ten years, Jose L. Martinez, M.D., has been helping patients breathe easier.
Dr. Martinez takes a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, lung cancer, or any lung-related illness.
More recently, he has been treating patients suffering from COVID-19. “We have seen the whole spectrum of the disease,” he says.
A native of Colombia where he finished medical school, Dr. Martinez came to the United States 20 years ago. He spent six years training in New York. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center and his fellowship training at Westchester Medical Center. He joined Pulmonary and Sleep Specialists of Florida in 2010 and later acquired the practice.
He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary and critical care medicine and is affiliated with Broward Health and Boca Raton Regional Hospital, which allows him to see his patients in the office, the hospital, or if needed, in a critical care setting.
Dr. Martinez offers state-of-the-art evaluations using pulmonary function tests, which are non-invasive tests that show how well your lungs are working.
“These tests are important in the management and treatment of pulmonary disease,” says Dr. Martinez.
Once a diagnosis is determined, Dr. Martinez works with his patients to develop a treatment plan that is supported by up-to-date and established medical evidence, as well as the latest developments in pulmonary research.
“I stay up to date with my knowledge and the best treatment options available,” he says. “A lot of the things we do are about making the life of the patient better so they are able to enjoy life with fewer symptoms.”
Dr. Martinez leads by example and lives a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise and encourages his patients to do the same.
