Like father, like son. Jesse Rack and his father, John Rack, are both master electricians. John founded Rack in 1994 after a career-ending injury as a New York City firefighter. An opportunity in Boca Raton led to a new chapter — and a new business.
“He was a man in a van who gave good service,” Rack recalls of those early days.
Armed with a degree in business administration and a minor in marketing, Rack joined the company in 2013 after coaching football at Florida Atlantic University for three seasons.
“I figured if I used my business and marketing skills, I could build a brand,” he says.
Together, the father-son duo grew Rack into a powerhouse — with over 200 employees, 100 trucks and five locations across Florida. “It’s been a wild ride — long nights, big sacrifices — but it’s been worth it,” Rack reflects.
What fueled their growth? “Charging fair prices, delivering the best customer experience and never compromising on quality,” Rack says. His strength lies in talent acquisition: “This isn’t a 9-to-5 job. To be legendary, you have to do the little things others won’t.”
Rack has continued to push boundaries through multiple mergers and acquisitions and by expanding its core services beyond standby generators, new construction, and maintenance.
Today, the company also offers solar energy and propane delivery. “We want to be the one-stop shop for home care,” Rack explains.
The goal? Expand across Florida, the Southeast, and eventually the entire nation.
“There will always be competitors. The biggest challenge is us — staying true to our commitment to excellence and customer care.”
In 2024, Rack was honored with Generac’s Impact Award, recognizing the company as a dealer that demonstrates exceptional partnership and drives industry success.
Still, Rack’s eyes are on the future: “I want to change the trajectory of the trades and be a game changer. But my greatest achievement will be retiring my dad.”
