Lab-Grown Diamonds
Believe it or not, diamonds have personalities. Some are happy. Some are depressed. At The DiamondLab in Boca Raton, all diamonds smile. That’s accomplished by selling loose diamonds that are cut to ensure they receive maximum light exposure.
“The more light that travels in and out, the more brilliant and alive it will be. Our goal is that when the client gets out of bed, they will look at their ring and the diamond will smile at them,” says Eyal Cohen, who is a store partner with Chris Lang. “We make dreams come true.”
Lab-grown diamonds are created by a simple process. A seed from a natural diamond is placed into a machine and the diamond is grown to the desired size in 28 days.
“It looks, feels and is the same as a natural diamond except for the value. Since you save on labor and time, it’s cheaper than a natural diamond,” says Cohen, a fifth-generation jeweler who hails from Jerusalem, Israel. “The cost of creating a lab-grown diamond is significantly less than a natural diamond.”
The DiamondLab celebrated its one-year anniversary in November and is the first and only store in South Florida that exclusively sells lab-grown diamonds. Thanks to high demand, they’re looking to expand the space. You’ll find diamond engagement rings, wedding bands, studs, necklaces, bracelets and more. “You name it, we have it.” They often make custom jewelry to accommodate a client’s wishes.
All jewelry is made with quality materials and craftsmanship and backed by a satisfaction guarantee. The business also buys customers’ gold and trades natural diamonds for lab-grown ones.
When customers come to the store for the first time, they often don’t know the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds. “We first educate them. We give them the most accurate information so they can make the right decision for them.”
Cohen, who lives in Boca Raton, has spent his life in the diamond business. He spent 25 years selling loose diamonds wholesale around the Southeastern United States. He also runs an appointment-only showroom near DiamondLab. “Diamonds are something I’m passionate and excited about.”
