Merissa Alcalay
Turf Landscaper
Merissa Alcalay, founder and owner of Turf Girl in Boca Raton, has many pinch-me moments. She was a stay-at-home mom and now — a successful business owner who witnesses her success as she travels around South Florida. “I love when I’m driving and see one of our pink trucks.”
Turf Girl is a premier, full-service synthetic turf design and installation company, specializing in thoughtful, hands-on design and high-quality synthetic turf installations across a wide range of styles and applications. Every project is completed by their highly trained, experienced and dedicated in-house team.

Clients turn to Turf Girl for both custom design and installation services, as well as expert installation based on existing design plans. Clients include The Boca Raton Resort and Beach Club, Delray Marketplace, Kips Bay Decorator Show Case of Palm Beach, Boca West Country Club, High Ridge Country Club, Meravita at Boca Raton by Toll Brothers, The Greenbrier, Tri County Animal Rescue, Throw Social, Dada Delray, the YMCA and the “Insta-Famous” Palm Beach Blue Door Residence, among others.
A New Jersey native, Alcalay lives in Delray Beach with her husband, three children and one dog. Her family wanted a low-maintenance, pet-friendly, aesthetically pleasing alternative to the standard grass lawn. So, they tried synthetic turf. She was blown away by how her backyard was transformed. Not only is it functional and beautiful, but now her children and pet can run and play without worrying about chemicals and pesticides. Plus, synthetic turf lets her have a pristine yard year-round, without the hassles of traditional sod like mowing or the weekly upkeep. It also withstands high levels of foot-traffic for long periods of time, lasting upwards of 20 years. Her husband jokingly called her “The Turf Girl.” Soon after that, this South Florida company was born.
Alcalay recognizes that the landscaping industry has traditionally been male-dominated. “We’ve been able to separate ourselves from everyone else here in South Florida,” she says. “Between our customer service and the prestigious properties we serve, I’m beyond proud of our excellent work.”
