More Than 200 Pets Found Forever Homes At Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event

The fifth annual Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) Adoption Event presented by The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, Inc., resulted in 206 pets finding forever homes.

Hosted by Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control and Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, the event took place at the South Florida Fairgrounds - Expo Center East in West Palm Beach. The event was a collaborative effort of more than 20 local animal rescue organizations to save the lives of Palm Beach County animals. Over the last five adoption events, more than 1,300 animals have found forever homes.

Thousands of guests searched for their perfect pet among hundreds of animals up for adoption, including dogs, cats, rabbits, roosters, hens, peacocks, a turkey and two pigs.

"The Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event is the largest pet adoption event in Palm Beach County, and we are thrilled that 206 animals found loving forever homes on this day," says Rich Anderson, executive director and CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. "This equates to 412 animals' lives saved because every adopted animal makes room in a shelter for another lost or abandoned pet that needs our help. C2Z is a true collaboration to achieve that goal. It's exactly what Countdown 2 Zero is all about - adopting from a local shelter when looking for a new pet."

Added Dianne Sauve, director of Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control: "The C2Z Adoption Event is just one of the many ways we come together to help support the important C2Z initiative. In addition to promoting the adoption of local rescue animals in need of loving homes, we also encourage everyone to spay/neuter their pets, as this is the most humane way to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens born each day."
