Levis JCC ‘Shine Like A Star’ Luncheon Features John Lithgow As Guest Speaker

On April 18, the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center will present its annual “Shine Like a Star” Luncheon at Boca West Country Club. The event will benefit its Helene & Roy Schwedelson Special Needs Department and its many participants.

This year’s special guest speaker, award-winning actor, author, musician and poet John Lithgow will address an expected sold-out audience during the program, which will be emceed by Bloomingdale’s Trade Area Vice President, Beth Rosenstein. A VIP reception with Lithgow begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon and program at 11:30 a.m. Marisa Baker, Jodi Blum, Lori Fineman, Alexis Frisch and Michelle Keyes chair the event; Judy Levis Krug is the Founding Chair.

Lithgow has long been regarded as one of America’s most distinguished performers. He has made an indelible impression with his work in film, television and theater. He is a prolific actor with two Tonys, six Emmys, three SAG Awards and two Oscar nominations, has appeared in a long list of critically acclaimed films, several hit television shows, appeared on Broadway 25 times and is an accomplished author. He is a strong advocate for arts in education and the livelihood of America’s creative workforce.

The mission of the Levis JCC Helene & Roy Schwedelson Special Needs Department, which serves more than 500 families each year, is to enhance the lives of children, teens and adults with disabilities by providing high-quality social, cultural, recreational and educational programming.
