A Tribute To Resiliency

This year’s 19th Annual Go Pink Luncheon on Oct. 27 welcomes Jaclyn Smith, award-winning actress, designer, inspirational cancer survivor and role model.

Hosted by Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, the luncheon is one of South Florida’s largest women’s health events, raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. All proceeds benefit cancer programs at the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute and the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

A native of Houston, Texas, Smith, known as the Breck shampoo girl, studied drama at Trinity University and was in productions including “Bye Bye Birdie” and “West Side Story.” She earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of the legendary first lady in “Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.”

Her annual mammogram in 2002 spotted something suspicious and biopsy results showed that she had stage 1 breast cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy followed by six weeks of radiation. She is now cancer free.

Community philanthropist, Carrie Rubin is the luncheon chair/host of the event along with the luncheon’s Go Pink committee. This year’s event will feature the Pink Daisy Wall and an amenity for every guest. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
