Clues For A Cause

Rales Jewish Family Services Hosts Fundraising Scavenger Hunt

More than 20 teams revved their engines, put on their thinking caps and searched for clues throughout Boca Raton and Delray Beach as part of Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services’ (JFS) Ultimate Road Trip Scavenger Hunt.

Beginning at JFS’ Jacobson Family Food Pantry in Delray, teams searched for clues at iPic Theaters, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, local Starbucks locations, a Michael’s store, a Houston’s restaurant and the It’Sugar candy store at Delray Marketplace before meeting up at the event’s final location, JFS’ Weisman Delray Community Center, for a socially distanced ice cream party.

“Typically, we have done small fundraisers in the summer, but they have never been as successful as this scavenger hunt,” says Danielle Hartman, JFS president and CEO, in a press release. “I think people were so happy to have something different to do where they can come out of their homes for a socially distanced fun event, support the agency and also see people from afar.”

The event raised $10,000 for JFS’ programs and services. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the agency has provided an additional 100 households in South Palm Beach County with food through its Adele Loeb & Les Nackman Meals on Wheels program, enrolled many new families in its food pantry and provided nearly $150,000 in financial assistance.

Winners included the first place team, Amy Ross, Robin Rubin and Andrea Schnurmacher; the second place team, Marissa Hollander, Shirley Cohen and Chris Miller; and the third place team, April and Roger Leavy. O
