A Wise Owl

Jason Hill Talks About Being An Entrepreneur In Paradise

by

Who is Jason Hill? He’s the founder of Owwll, an app that connects you with experts on instant, private paid audio calls. He realized that LinkedIn messages, DMs and emails were getting ignored, leading to missed opportunities for the formation of professional relationships or friendships.

Hill, who is self-funding the business, landed on the app’s moniker because “owl is the bird of wisdom and intelligence.” Owwll has grown to 5,000-plus users nationwide since launching on June 7, 2022.

“It’s built rich relationships at the speed of light and the right relationships at the end of the day — the ones that hit your hobbies, hit your interests, hit your occupation,” he says. “A lot of people say it’s LinkedIn on steroids.”

Hill is not a night owl, but rather an early bird, waking up at 6:15 a.m. to run and swim before driving to the Boca Raton office of his financial services business, Client Focused Advisors.

Wednesdays are reserved for his two podcasts. With alternating co-hosts Kevin Cox and Roland Kidwell, he interviews South Florida entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders on “The Shrimp Tank Boca Raton,” which records at the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship at FAU’s College of Business. In the afternoon, Hill interviews experts from across the U.S. for “The Owwll Podcast.”

Hill’s dream podcast guest would be his dad, who owned a nautical antique store at South Street Seaport in New York City and taught him entrepreneurship and sales skills. Sadly, his father has dementia.

As a child, the University of Delaware alum played various sports and sailed in his hometown of Port Washington, N.Y. He fell in love with the sunshine and sand when visiting his grandmother and aunt in Deerfield Beach. In March 2017, Hill and his wife Julia decided to make Parkland home with their son Westin, 9, and daughter Kennedy, 6.

Hill hosts networking events like Entrepreneurs in Paradise, which featured an interactive podcast experience with six CEOs from businesses headquartered in Boca. He keeps his mind and body active by playing poker with friends and soccer and basketball with his son.

Hill isn’t done reaching for the stars yet. The 39-year-old wants to appear on a “40 Under 40” list before his next birthday on Nov. 16.
