New Food Hall, Delray City Market, Slated To Break Ground
As we reported in our last October Food & Wine Issue, food halls - essentially gourmet food courts - are taking over the South Florida dining scene.
And, soon, Delray Beach will get its own iteration of the trendy culinary concept: Menin Development expects to break ground this fall on Delray City Market, which is slated to open fall 2019.
Located just south of bustling Atlantic Avenue on Southeast Third Avenue, the market will be housed in an "architecturally significant mixed-use building," according to Menin, spanning 120,000 square feet and four stories.
The 30,000-square-foot food hall will house about 30 vendors, and guests will be able to enjoy cooking classes, live music and guest chefs in the space. Plus, a 3,000-square-foot community garden will be located on the building's rooftop.
"Delray City Market will [give] highly curated up-and-coming chefs and food operators who may not have the finances to open their own restaurants in Delray Beach the opportunity to be on display and to serve their signature food to an audience of locals, South Floridians, as well as the millions of visitors who come to Palm Beach County each year," says Craig Menin, CEO of Menin Development, according to a press release.
For those already worried about parking, don't stress: The new building will offer a three-level enclosed parking garage and designated ride-share drop-off areas.
