A New Brew

Tarpon River Brewing Opens In Fort Lauderdale

When news hit of a new brewery and restaurant in downtown Fort Lauderdale, we were intrigued.

And it turns out that Tarpon River Brewing - a joint venture between The Riverside Market & Cafe, Native Brewing and The Restaurant People - has some history behind it. The 11,000-square-foot venue is located in the former 1920s home of Snyder Stables.

"We've been working towards this project for many years, and the final pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place once we partnered with The Restaurant People," says Lisa Siegel of The Riverside Market, according to a press release. "They bring an element of hospitality pedigree that we needed to create something of this scale."

While the brewery is the focal point of the Old Florida-style tap room, a 1,000-square-foot house, constructed of reclaimed barn wood and sporting Astro Turf, offers a spot for diners to play yard games.

It's obvious someone had fun naming the beers: Everything from Good As Gold to The Pink Slip is available here. The creativity extends to the menu, too, created by Chef Leo Hernandez and offering options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beer-inspired favorites include the Giant Pretzel, served with an IPA cheese sauce; IPA Beer Mac n Cheese; and the Golden Ale Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
