When Larry Met Steve

Talk about a mensch: Area resident Larry Orbach spends his free time volunteering at the Shirley & Barton Weisman Delray Community Center, part of Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services.

Known as "Techno Larry," he helps senior citizens keep pace with modern technology by teaching them how to text, email, make phone calls and even set up ride-sharing apps on their smartphones.

Thanks to his efforts, Orbach was recently featured on the "Steve Harvey" show and had this to say: "I'm helping those seniors get through these technologically challenging times with their personal devices. I'm really hoping to inspire others to do the same in their communities."

Harvey applauded Orbach's efforts - and said that he could relate to seniors' struggles to stay current.

"I want to say thanks to Larry. Larry, keep up the good work. And I also want to thank my children for taking the time to teach their old man how to use his smartphone."
