Brightline Hosts The Polar Express Experience For Kids

We can't think of a better way to celebrate the holidays than by reliving the heartwarming children's book "The Polar Express."

Brightline agrees, and the high-speed rail system has come up with a creative way to immerse passengers in this touching story.

It's dubbed The Polar Express, an hour-long interactive experience that whisks guests on a magical journey, complete with hot chocolate, cookies served by dancing chefs, a visit with Santa and his helpers - and a special gift. And, of course, a read-along of the classic book, by author Chris Van Allsburg, which tells the story of a boy who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole.

The train, which leaves from and returns to the Fort Lauderdale station, will be decked out in festive holiday décor and color- changing LED lighting synched with onboard activities.

"During the trip, characters on each car lead passengers in caroling and onboard entertainment - just like in the film," notes the website. "Each guest will take home a keepsake sleigh bell - and lots of memories."

Passengers are encouraged to don comfy pajamas, and gifts and keepsakes will be available for purchase at the event, which runs through Jan. 1.

Want an extra dose of holiday magic? Catch an IMAX showing of "The Polar Express" movie at the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale through Dec. 23.
