Looking For Love

Expert Advice For Choosing Singles Events

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are more than 110 million single people over the age of 18 in the country.

Translation: lots of individuals looking for love in all the right - or maybe the wrong - places.

"There are many, many singles events, but that doesn't mean that they are all worth attending," explains Andrew Rudnick, founder of Matzoball, which has been hosting Jewish singles at nationwide holiday soirees for 32 years. "You have to find the ones that are a good fit for you."

Here are five tips from the organization for choosing the right singles events.

Remember your values. If there are things you are for or against and feel strongly about, keep them in mind when choosing events to attend.

Step out of your comfort zone. If there's something that interests you yet you aren't familiar with the activity, give it a try.

Ask friends for their top picks. Seek feedback on singles events - friends can help guide you in the right direction.

Go with your gut. If you get a not-so-good feeling from certain events, steer clear.

Expect fun, and let the rest fall into place. Attend with the idea of having a good time, and see where it leads.
