A Bloomin’ Good Time

Epcot's International Flower & Garden Festival Has Arrived

by

Attention flower lovers, it’s that time of the year again when Epcot comes alive, literally, for the annual International Flower & Garden Festival. From March 1–July 5, everything comes up roses (and carnations and daisies!). This will be the event’s 30th year.

If the natural scents of the flowers aren’t enough, take a walk through Blossoms of Fragrance, an area set aside in the park featuring sights and scents associated with the arrival of spring.

There also are 15 outdoor kitchen food booths, turning this annual event into a veritable Food & Wine fest with something for every taste. The best part is that the festival doesn’t cost more. It comes as part of the entry fee to the park.

Putting the event together is no easy feat. It’s no wonder, considering there are 240 floating flower planters, 700 gardens, nearly 100 Disney character topiaries and 30 flower towers. Many of the topiaries are staples appearing year after year, but this year the characters of the movie “Encanto” will make their first appearance.

There’s also a line-up of live entertainment that have, in years past, included some well-known performers like The Guess, Who, Rick Springfield and Kool & the Gang.
