A Doggone Good Idea

Adopt A Pet In Fosterverse

by

Have you seen those commercials where, for a small donation, you can “adopt” a sea creature or a wolf or even a bear cub? You don’t take them home, but you do get a picture and some information about them.

Now, dog food maker Pedigree has launched a way for people to symbolically adopt dogs in foster care until they find a furever home. The program allows real-life rescue dogs to be virtually fostered in the metaverse by anyone who owns a digital property, according to the company.

To participate, owners of virtual land in Decentraland can select any available dog from the Adopt a Pet website and upload avatars that look like the real dogs’ photos to the platform. Decentraland is a 3D virtual world owned by its users. The dogs listed on the website are from all over the country and are all types of breeds.

Even if you don’t own property in Decentraland, dog lovers can choose to adopt a dog they meet virtually in the fosterverse or donate to Pedigree Foundation to help similar adoptable pets in need.

In addition, the Pedigree brand will match up to $100,000 in donations to support Pedigree Foundation.
