Artists To Make Waves

It’s all aboard for a group of local artists whose work will sail the high seas with Windstar Cruises. The luxury ship cruise line is partnering with Fountainhead Arts, a Miami-based arts organization, to commission local artists to paint murals on each of the three Star Plus Class yachts, as well as the company’s new Miami office which opened in June.

Fountainhead — whose goal is to empower artists — will help Windstar select who will board the ships and paint a mural on the large top deck walls aft of the Star Grill. While the artists are aboard, guests will be able to watch them work and then attend a reveal event. After the event, artists will host a dinner table with guests selected by Windstar. They also will conduct two seminars, one for guests and the other for crew members, explaining how they came up with the idea, design, meaning and installation process of their work.

Windstar President Christopher Prelog says the project is about connecting to the Miami arts community. “The entire team is excited to meet the artists in Fountainhead’s artistic ecosystem and see the original artwork come to life on board and in our office,” says Prelog.
