Dance To Remember

Orange Ribbons For Jaime Hosts First Dance-A-Thon Fundraiser Nov. 8-11

Get ready to bust a move for a good cause.

Orange Ribbons for Jaime – founded to honor Jaime Guttenberg, a victim of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland – is hosting a nationwide Dance-A-Thon Nov. 8-11 to raise money for services that the nonprofit supports, including creating a new scholarship program.

Since Guttenberg loved dance, the event will take place at dance studios and other locations nationwide. So far, 40 venues have signed on, including the P-REC gymnasium in Parkland, where the event will take place on Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. (in affiliation with Dance Theatre of Parkland, where Jaime was a frequent dancer). Other locales are in Coral Springs and Delray Beach, along with places in California, West Virginia and Maryland.

Orange Ribbons For Jaime, founded by Fred and Jennifer Guttenberg, “honors our daughter by supporting programs that were important to her as well as those dedicated to pursuing common sense gun safety reforms,” notes the organization’s website.

The Dance-A-Thon, which is the nonprofit’s first fundraising event, will last for three hours at each location. Supporters can dance, sponsor a dancer or just donate to the cause.
