Popular Fort Lauderdale Street Transformed Into An Urban Winter Wonderland

by

Christmas is coming early to Las Olas. A Fort Lauderdale tradition for 60 years, Christmas on Las Olas Boulevard kicks off the holiday season. Las Olas is a beautiful place to visit year-round, but during the holidays, sidewalk cafes, art galleries and shops are transformed into an urban Winter Wonderland. The Nov. 29 event is from 5 to 10 p.m., takes place between S.E. 6th Ave. and S.E. 11th Ave. and is free to the public.

The air will be filled with the sounds of area choirs from schools and churches from three stages. Other entertainment includes dance troupes, theatrical artists and singers. In years past, close to 30,000 people have attended. And while we may not have snow in South Florida, attendees can play in the man-made white stuff on “snow mountain.”

There is a kids’ fun zone where the little ones can get out all of their energy and have their photo taken with Old Saint Nick himself. And don’t forget the food, there will be plenty to eat and drink.
