by

Miami is known for its wild lifestyle and for its wildlife.

Now, nature lovers can enjoy the second of the two in a new book that publishes this month titled “Wild Miami.” Billed as “equal parts natural history, field guide and trip planner” the book offers readers 25 field trip locations as well as maps of the various state parks from A to Z (Arch Creek Park to Zoo Miami).

The book is authored by local natural historians and scientists TJ Morrell, Shannon Jones, Brian Diaz and Fernando Bretos. It profiles more than 100 local species, from beautiful flowers and towering palm trees to manatees and green treefrogs, spotted sunfish and great blue herons as well as some 300 colorful photos. Readers can also learn the history of the Sunshine State — from the first Miamians to the most recent arrivals from all over the world. There is a section dedicated to climate change and the impact it is having, including sea level rise. You can find it on Amazon as well as in a number of bookstores.
