On The Rise

Two New Projects Are Popping Up In Delray Beach

There’s always something new – and exciting – in Delray Beach.

The latest: Florida’s largest food hall and a “tropical modernism” hotel.

Construction is underway on The Ray, a 141-room hotel in Pineapple Grove with multiple rooftop gardens, large-scale sculptures, a 20,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck and private event space for up to 300 in a “floating” glass cube. There’s also a 6,000-square-foot courtyard and several dining options, including the Akira Back restaurant and a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Designers are planning luxe accommodations, and the location is primo: just two blocks from Atlantic Avenue and less than a mile from the beach.

“The Ray has been conceived and designed to be the ultimate hotel and dining destination for the entire region,” says Craig Menin, president of Menin Development, which is behind both projects, according to a press release.

The hotel, set to open in May 2021, is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton.

The Ray will be steps from the city’s other new project, Delray Beach Market, a four-story, 60,000-square-foot food market with room for 35 vendors. The venue, located half a block off Atlantic Avenue, is slated to open fall 2020 and will be packed with choices for foodies of all tastes. There’s no word yet on specific vendors, but organizers are touting independent, artisanal vendors with local, authentic and healthy options.

We know what you’re thinking. And, yes, there will be plenty of parking. A 220-car, four-level, state-of-the-art parking garage is in the works.
