Graffiti Museum Opens In Wynwood

by

If you’ve ever wanted to pick up a can of spray paint and share your artistic talents with the world, have we got the experience for you! The Museum of Graffiti, located in Miami’s trendy Wynwood neighborhood, is the world’s first museum exclusively dedicated to the evolution of the art form.

Exhibits such as The Birth of the Graffiti Art Movement with photos of some of the earliest graffiti writers with works dating back to the 1970s provide a glimpse of the longstanding history of spray painting as an art form. There’s also an interactive map of outdoor murals around the museum for those wanting to see the work of some of today’s best-known graffiti artists.

Want to take a shot at it yourself? The museum offers classes for kids and adults. Beginners can opt for the “Spray it Loud” class, held on Saturdays. On Sundays, local artists lead a graffiti drawing class for kids.

On the last Saturday of the month fans of grafitti art are welcome for drinks and to bid on live drawings created by artists on the spot.

Founded by Alan Ket and Allison Freidin, the museum focuses on graffiti’s evolution from underground train and subway cars into a respected art movement.
