Smart Mask: There’s An App For That!

Keep track of your respiratory health

Breathe easy, mask wearers!

A sleek face covering launched this year called the Active+ Halo Smart Mask comes with a built-in Halo Sensor that monitors air quality and gives users personalized data on pollution, breathing rate and respiratory health.

Feedback information is accessed via the AirPop app on your phone, which includes reminders on when it’s time to replace the mask’s filter, what pollutants the filter has blocked during use, breathing cycles and behavior. The filter claims to block more than 99 percent of dust, allergens and microbial particles.

“This product embodies the AirPop mission — to help people better understand and take control of their respiratory health through a human-centered approach to design, science and technology,” AirPop Co-Founder Chris Hosmer said in a press release.

Hosmer was inspired to develop AirPop in 2015, long before COVID-19 became part of everyone’s vocabulary. His daughter suffered a series of acute respiratory reactions to noxious air and those experiences left him feeling under-informed and helpless. Since then, he has invented a range of adult and kids products for high-performance and day-to-day use.

The newest mask is built with a 360-degree sealing, medical-grade soft touch membrane.
