Talbots Is Seeing Red

An American Favorite Celebrates 75 Years

by

An all-American institution, Talbots is saying “cheers to 75 years” of making women look fabulous. Started in 1947 by Nancy and Rudy Talbot, the retailer became known as “the store with the red door” after the couple painted the door red on their Hingham, Mass. house as a sign of welcome.

Talbots has been dressing generations of women with its classic clothing — from petite to plus sizes. This year, Talbots is unveiling its newly designed Red Door Capsule Collection which is all about the color it is famous for.

The collection, which launches this month (Dec. 2) is available in stores at its more than 500 locations nationwide, online and, of course, in the catalog it launched in 1965 and for which Talbots is famous. It includes dresses, skirts, blazers, tops, shoes and accessories.

There have been many celebrity sightings of women wearing Talbots including Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift and Kelly Ripa, which of course helps boost awareness and sales.
