Boca Company StrawFish On A Mission To Ban Plastic Straws

Boca Raton company StrawFish doesn’t mince words.

“With more than 500 million straws used in the United States daily, the fact that plastic straws are the eighth most found ocean trash is no surprise,” notes its website.

Its founders – friends Kyle Lansing, Aaron Kleinert and Tomer Bitton – are on a mission to combat plastic pollution. Realizing that promoting a sustainable future can be expensive, StrawFish partnered with Rhino Paper Straws to distribute long-lasting, gluten-free straws to restaurants, hotels and businesses for free to aid in the transition to sustainable alternatives.

“This is done by partnering with businesses of all sorts to advertise on the straw itself with FDA-approved water-based ink,” notes a press release.

They’ve given away 250,000 straws thus far to local businesses like Raw Juce, The Whale’s Rib and The Yacht & Racquet Club of Boca Raton.

“It would be amazing to inspire local businesses to continue committing to sustainability,” says Lansing, CEO of StrawFish, in a press release. “We want to help these establishments pledge their commitment to the environment through our effective advertising platform.”

Adds COO Kleinert, according to a press release: “Our promise is to be more than just another paper straw company. For as long as we can, we pledge to provide free paper straws to businesses.”

The trio is also educating the public on single-use plastic pollution and bans, planning beach cleanups and fighting to promote eco-friendly legislation.
