Oktoberfest Celebrations In South Florida

by

Google Oktoberfest and the word “cancelled” appears next to the most famous and world’s largest celebration held each year in Munich, Germany.

But here in South Florida, many Oktoberfest activities are still taking place.

The Oktoberfest Boca Brewery/Bar Crawl runs Oct. 16 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. It kicks off at Prosperity Brewers where guests will receive wristbands for crawl specials and winds its way to four other Boca bars: Barrel of Monks Brewing, Crazy Uncle Mike’s, The Duck Tavern and Whistle Stop Public House. There’s no transportation with this crawl, so you need to find a way to get to and from the various venues.

The American German Club of the Palm Beaches is slated to hold its annual Taste of Oktoberfest the weekends of Oct. 9-10 and Oct. 16-17. Guests can party the day (and night) away with live bands playing German music, plenty of German foods and of course a wide selection of German, domestic and other destination beers. There’s also a carnival for the kids. Tickets can only be purchased in advance (not the day of).

Head on down to Coconut Grove for an Oktoberfest that’s billed as being out of this world. The Grovetoberfest is scheduled for Oct. 10 at Regatta Park in the Grove (3500 Pan American Dr. Miami). There will be a selection of more than 500 craft beers, tastings and live music.

The outdoor event, which runs from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m., is for the 21+ age group.
