Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Newest Ride, The Serengeti Flyer

by

This isn’t your garden variety swing set. It is Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s newest ride, the Serengeti Flyer, which opened earlier this year. Climb aboard one of two dueling arms that swing back and forth like a pendulum, going higher and higher and reaching speeds of up to 68 miles an hour until you are about 135 feet above ground.

“As the world’s tallest and fastest ride of its kind, Serengeti Flyer joins a world-class portfolio of attractions, offering breathtaking views of the park and a one-of-a-kind experience for all our guests,” says Park President Neal Thurman.

Though not as calming as, say, a Ferris wheel, thrill-seekers can spot giraffes, rhinos and other animals throughout the park’s 65-acre Serengeti Plan from the high vantage point. The ride, which is located at the old Rhino Rally load station, can handle 40 guests at a time seated back-to-back. Busch Gardens says it’s the tallest, fastest ride of its kind. One caveat, you must be 48 inches or taller to ride.

If that’s not enough adventure, the park has 28 other rides including 10 roller coasters with names such as Cheetah Hunt, Cobra’s Curse and SheiKra.
