Fort Lauderdale’s Newest Hotel, The Dalmar, Is A Hip Urban Hideaway

by

Talk about rooms with a view.

The oh-so-fashionable Dalmar hotel, which made its debut on Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale last March, delivers some of the best vistas in the city – from downtown Fort Lauderdale to the Atlantic Ocean.

And, like frosting on a cake, some of the best views can be savored from the hotel’s trendy rooftop bar, Sparrow, on the 25th floor. With a main bar, a lounge and an expansive patio bar, Sparrow serves a full menu that attracts hotel guests, young professionals and others who enjoy a relaxing evening out.

Of course, the panoramic views are only part of the appeal of the urban lifestyle hotel. Inspired by South Florida’s vibrant culture – and with a California mid-century vibe – The Dalmar rests on the border of Fort Lauderdale’s hip Flagler Village neighborhood and is just minutes from Las Olas and the beach. It’s part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio collection and has 209 guest rooms, including 33 suites.

The international firm DesignAgency was charged with interior design and branding. Rooms are decorated with neutral tones, rich leathers, natural woods, marble and curated artwork inspired by photographer Slim Aarons. They also feature rainfall showers and upscale Sferra linens as well as techy touches like flat-screen TVs, iPads, keyless entry and Amazon Alexa automation.

In addition to Sparrow, The Dalmar has four food and beverage venues, including its signature restaurant, The Terrace Grill, a classic American grill with Italian flair on the hotel’s ground floor. Rose’s Coffee Bar, also on the ground floor, serves coffee, pressed juices, sandwiches and snacks. The poolside bar and grill, Sip n’ Dip, is the spot for cocktails and snacks.

And last but not least is the sixth-floor retro-themed lobby bar with its luminous pink-onyx bar and custom stained-glass mural. You can toast the day with something tempting from the specialty drink menu – with each creation incorporating seasonal fruits and herbs – and dance the night away with live music on weekends.

“The Dalmar is a property unlike anything Fort Lauderdale has seen, and we are delivering an experience rooted in service, design and culture,” says Jake Wurzak, president of Wurzak Hotel Group, which owns the property. “Each venue is a curated standalone destination with a unique vibe but all connected through the vibrancy of The Dalmar. We can’t wait for locals and guests to experience the hotel and look forward to playing an integral role in defining the fabric of the city.”

Hotel guests will want to save time to splash around in the infinity pool; work out in the fitness center; and find their inner zen at Yoga Joint, the area’s premier yoga studio.

The 25-story hotel has such a relaxed, tropical environment that guests may be tempted not to leave the property. But, if they do, they’ll discover a wealth of area activities, from kayaking at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park to shopping on Las Olas to sampling Fort Lauderdale’s vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene.

Some may choose to explore the Venice of America on a water taxi or learn about the Las Olas Riverwalk on a narrated cruise. Jet-skiing, parasailing and other water activities can be found two miles away at Fort Lauderdale Beach. Others might opt for an Everglades swamp tour or a city Segway tour.

Complimentary shuttles to the beach and downtown are available for guests of The Dalmar, and bikes can be rented, too.

At the end of the day – and after taking in the glorious city views once more through floor-to-ceiling windows – guests slip between the luxurious sheets on their pillowtop beds at The Dalmar, where sweet dreams await. O
