Man Among Men

Exceptional Male Role Models And So Much More

by

Crooner extraordinaire Frank Sinatra once said, “A man is only as good as his words are.”

As someone who places a high value on integrity and character, this simple message resonates strongly with me. We are living in an era that often feels like it is moving too quickly, where promises can be made lightly and broken without a moment’s thoughts, and where it feels more important than ever to have strong male role models.

This is why I’m beyond ecstatic to share with you this May’s Men’s Issue, showcasing exceptional men. For starters, our cover story, “Setting A New Stage” (page 62), features the incomparable Ricky Martin. I have adored Ricky Martin since his earliest days performing in the Latin boy band Menudo. In this story, we take a close look at his many accomplishments, his exciting new role in the Apple TV+ show “Palm Royale,” as well as his inspiring nonprofit work and his pride as a father of four. Talk about a role model!

We shift to an equally important, and often not-spoken-about topic: why it is hard for men to make friends. Our piece “Brothers On The Brink” (page 68) explores this phenomenon, providing a valuable understanding as to why many men struggle to connect with others, as well as the necessary steps to change that.

Next up we have Miami Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold in “Game Changer” (page 74), whose actions on and off the field truly define a good man. Fans already know about his drive and dedication when it comes to football, so it’s no surprise that he is equally passionate and committed to making a difference serving his community. In fact, on May 22, he’ll be the special guest speaker at ChildNet’s 9th Annual Care for Kids Cocktail Reception, an organization near and dear to his heart. The nonprofit entity’s mission is to protect abused, abandoned and neglected children in our community.

In honor of the ultimate male hero in our lives, in “A Day With Dad” (page 80) we share fun activities you can plan with your favorite patriarch.

In closing, I’d be remiss not to wish all the moms a Happy Mother’s Day on May 12. You are the superheroes quietly guiding our children to become the great men and women we are fortunate to have today.

All the best,

Linda L. Behmoiras
