Tasteful Fall Tablescapes

by

If we've learned anything assembling autumn table decor, it’s that the best looks are always timeless, whether it’s elegant linens, graceful glassware or pristine plates. Bianca Cirillo, Sales Executive at Deerfield Beach’s Different Look spoke to us about the best ways to showcase stylish fall table traditions.

Craft To Your Space

The look of a fall table shouldn’t follow trends, it should follow the style of your own space. “The main thing when you’re building a tablescape is to check out your surroundings and know what you’re serving, and who will be at your table,” Cirillo says. If you’re serving family style, for example, you don’t want your table to be too overdone, lest your decor cause a serving spill.

Colors Count

When it comes to fall, you may want to use all the colors in the season’s crayon box, but it’s best to choose two or three. “I think we have a tendency, especially with fall to overdo color,” Cirillo says. You can pick your color palette in advance, based on the room your table is in, of course, and then build your table around it. Cirillo likes to choose the boldest color as an accent — a colored glass or charger plate with muted linens, for example — and keep it simple, overall. “You don’t need elaborate linens and crazy napkin rings and all of this stuff,” she says.

Go Natural

Continue to amp up your fall tablescape by adding natural elements to match your colors. “Even if I’m using branches, instead of the orange and the red and the yellow, I try to keep it to one or two colors,” she says. She also recommends using natural elements in your cooking as table placeholders, like a sprig of thyme or a pear with a place card elegantly pinned to it. Gourds and tiny pumpkins, or jack-be-littles, are also great for a fall tablescape. If natural elements aren’t as easily available, just use anything you can find at your grocery store; even faux items are welcome. Then add votives or tapered candles for extra sparkle.
