Something To Savor

Don’t Miss A Meal At Mastro’s Ocean Club In Fort Lauderdale

by

There’s a good reason the internet is flooded with recipes that claim to be for Mastro’s Signature Warm Butter Cake.

Now that I’ve tried the real thing – and plenty of other exceptional dishes at Mastro’s Ocean Club in Fort Lauderdale – I could never settle for second best. Opened last summer, the first Florida location of this nationally renowned restaurant group pairs spectacular cuisine with savvy service.

As for the ambiance, you can visit the bar at this popular waterfront restaurant and find animated clientele in abundance enjoying the sophisticated but cozy vibe, even on a weeknight. No doubt they are also enjoying Mastro’s virtually endless cocktail offerings and wine menu recognized by Wine Spectator.

You have plenty of choices when it comes to finely executed appetizers, sushi, chops, steaks, seafood and sides. The Hudson Valley Foie Gras is smooth and rich with a just-right flavor. Steaks come in a wide variety of sizes and cuts and arrive exactly as you ordered. The same can be said of the Rack of Lamb, which is lightly seasoned and offered with classic mint jelly.

Fish lovers will have trouble deciding which of Mastro’s cooked-to-order choices to try. They range from Chilean Sea Bass, Bigeye Tuna and New Zealand King Salmon Fillet to Swordfish Steak, Alaskan Halibut, Florida Snapper and more.

Side dish options also are plentiful, creative and perfect complements to any entrée; all work well for sharing. For something a little different, try the Alaskan King Crab Black Truffle Gnocchi. The Gorgonzola Mac & Cheese is a unique and tangy twist on an old favorite, and the Shoestring Sea Salt & Vinegar Fries are an unexpected treat.

Finally, it’s time for the Signature Warm Butter Cake. Do not leave Mastro’s without trying this dreamy dessert. Warning: Sharing it may cause World War III at the dining table. It’s incredibly moist, creamy and bursting with fresh vanilla flavor. Topping it with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream sends it over the edge of pure ecstasy.

It’s no wonder that this dessert – and Mastro’s swanky restaurants – are beloved by celebrities throughout the United States. It’s hard not to enjoy every minute of this dazzling dining experience. O
