Todd’s By Todd English Puts A Creative Twist On Traditional Favorites

by

Being the guest of a celebrity chef – if only for one meal – is a dream for many foodies.

Now it’s a reality at Todd’s by Todd English, by the four-time James Beard Award recipient and host of the PBS show “Food Trip with Todd English.”

This beautifully designed restaurant is located in the EmKo building, a multi-disciplinary art gallery in West Palm Beach’s historic Flamingo Park neighborhood. And there’s no doubt that Todd’s is one of the finest examples of culinary art you’ll find locally.

Yet the vibe is friendly and down-to-earth, with generous happy hour drinks and food specials that appeal to its many patrons, each greeted and served graciously.

Todd’s menu is the inclusive eating experience we’ve all been waiting for: enticing for vegans, vegetarians and omnivores alike.

For crudos, have the Vegan Mushroom Ceviche, made with portabella mushrooms, hearts of palm, jicama, tomato and avocado and served with house-made tostadas, while your companion enjoys the amazing Truffle Beef Tartare, with a fresh egg yolk, Parmesan, black truffles and cheddar toast.

When it comes to starters, the unusual Sweet Potato Tacos burst with flavor thanks to tempura avocado, sriracha ginger aioli and tomatillo salsa. Also, I couldn’t resist the Lobster Deviled Eggs, served with brown butter, Parmesan and chorizo “dust.”

Seafood lovers will find plenty of choices at Todd’s. Fresh seafood entrées are masterfully prepared, including my favorite: the Seared Sea Bass, in a miso glaze and served with salt-roasted beets and balsamic. We were pleasantly surprised by the Roasted Cauliflower, in curry sauce with onions, chickpeas and sautéed vegetables. It was phenomenal. A Falafel Burger, a One-Pound Meatball and a variety of steaks and chicken dishes round out the entrée selections.

Don’t neglect the sides – including the signature T.E. Fries, with rosemary, garlic, shallots and Parmesan – or the desserts. Opt for the Mini-Napoleons, liberally dusted with powdered sugar. And then reserve a table for your next amazing meal at Todd’s. O
