Calling all theater lovers — “Cats” will be making its way to Fort Lauderdale for five glorious productions at the Broward Center For Performing Arts as part of a new North America Tour. The shows will run Apr. 5-10.

The musical has been a fan favorite since it was first performed in 1982. Its iconic songs, vibrant set and costume design and roller-coaster ride of emotions has catapulted “Cats” into a record-breaking musical captivating more than 75 million people worldwide. It has been in over 30 countries and performed in 15 languages. This latest rendition features new sound design, direction and choreography to appeal to a new generation of “Cats” enthusiasts.

Composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, “Cats” is based on the 1939 poetry collection “Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats” by T.S. Elliot. This musical tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles who come together once a year under the Jellicle moon to pick which cat amongst them will ascend to the Heaviside layer and be reborn into a new life.

“The Broward Center For The Performing Arts is one of America’s premier performing arts venues, consistently ranked among the top ten in the country,” states a press release.

Please note all guests age 2 and up must wear a suitable face covering while inside the theater and all guests 12 and up must provide proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test or proof of a full vaccination status.
