Though the recent global pandemic forced many canceled vacations and socially distant gatherings, people are finally ready to rejoice and travel the world once again.

“Rick Steves Europe Awaits” has hit the screen at the perfect time for excited travelers to find their next destination. Throughout the two-hour public television special hosted by guidebook author and travel expert Rick Steves, viewers see Europe through Steves’ “dream itinerary.”

Rick Steves began his teaching career in the mid-1970s when he taught a travel class at The Experimental College through the University of Washington. Since then, he has founded Rick Steves’ Europe, his travel company with a tour program. The program brings over 30,000 travelers to Europe each year. Steves has supported public broadcasting for decades, and “Rick Steves Europe Awaits” is just one of his many eye-opening travel productions.

In the past, Steves has hosted public radio shows and created free audio tours of museums and historic grounds throughout Europe. He lives in Washington but spends about four months of the year abroad. Steves believes that travel is freedom and encourages his American audiences to extend their experiences by stepping on foreign soil. He trusts that Americans will soon be ready to cross the sea, and when that time comes, Europe will greet travelers with an exciting welcome.
